Keepin' It Real: The Mid-Year Mess

Remember back in July when my classroom looked like this?

Well, a lot has happened since then. Five whole months have happened since then. And then, in November and December, we didn't even use the classroom. I needed to sew and in order for me to be able to cut out fabric while schoolwork went on, we moved to the dining room table for a while.

And so...the classroom became sort of a dumping ground. I mean, even worse than before.

I'm fairly sure when I said, "Go put the globe back" that I didn't mean "under the table."

And have I mentioned that this room is immediately to the right when you walk in my front door? And that there is no door to shut on this room? Yeah.

To tell the truth, I don't even know how some of this happened. Little Bit does "art" at her little desk in the corner. "Art" is very freeing and self-expressive!

I mean, just look.

She better start making some money on that art soon.

I've got some work to do because school starts back on Monday folks!

So how about your house? Do you have some "mid-year mess" to share? Come on ladies, we're keepin' it real here. It doesn't have to be homeschool mess.....post-Christmas mess, just moved in mess....it's all welcome here. Snap a picture and share and make the rest of us feel better!

  1. I enjoyed this post immensely!!

My house is still somewhat of a post-Christmas disaster and the homeschool cabinet is overflowing and completely disorganized! Uh, too bad I don't have a blog to show you... ;)

  2. Happy New Year!
So, we've both got some cleaning to do... sorry that the picture doesn't really do it justice, but the room is in a corner that is hard to photograph...
Your homeschool room makeover was how I found your blog, so this was really fun!
Wouldn't it be fun if we were closer? Then we could laugh at each other's rooms in person (:

  3. Dang! I wish I had come over here for a visit earlier. My bedroom was a DISASTER, but unfortunaltey I did not get a picture before I cleaned it.

It took me all day, and looked much worse than your school room.

    Thanks for keeping it real!

  4. So, are you planning a new sewing project that entails "shut off" curtains to the school room?

Or are you going to clean it?

I would make the curtains, personally. ;0)

Much less time consuming. And cute too. Maybe I could make some for every open area of our house...hmmm...

  5. ok, so I am trying to join this 'sharing' idea ;^) You will be stuck with several posts to observe cuz I have alot of "school areas" that I use in our home. It may not be sooo messy, but I figure it is fun to share ideas also!
    Thanks for sharing w/ us!

  6. I wish I had taken pictures too right after Christmas! The whole house looked like the playroom! A little at a time, right? Like you say, "You can't eat an elephant all in one bite."

  7. I wish I'd seen this earlier. ;) I just spent two days straightening up our "school room." (It's not really a school room, but we have school type things in our entry way, so I shove the clutter into baskets and closets.)

  8. Bless you for showing this! I think I am the only one!

My kitchen table was HORRIBLE during the HOLIDAYS! Two sewing machines, books everywhere, etc.

I have a "schoolroom" but we school everywhere and while the room was clean my dining room wasn't.

    You made me feel NORMAL!

Looking at your mess I see a well used area full of creative juices and lots of fun. When I was looking at mine I was upset and felt UGH!

    Funny how that is...

I don't get to talk to a lot of actual grown-ups during the day, so your comments make me really happy! :)
