What Time Is It?

We're done!!!! Yesterday we finished the last spelling lesson (well, 2 spelling lessons for Sweetheart) and that was it. I had youtube all cued up and ready to go. I pushed play and we danced around the living room to High School Musical's summertime song. It was wonderful. The girls just giggled and giggled. Sweetheart is so happy to be a "middle schooler." I told her she could not be that old because she was my little baby.

"OK then Mom. I'm a "sixth grader". Is that better?"

"Yes. Because in some places 6th grade is still elementary school."

"Moooommmm!"

I am so proud this year. We actually finished our History book, science book, Bible book, and both spelling books. I cannot remember a year when we finished that many things all the way through. (Math? Not so much.)

Tonight we are having Open House for our homeschool. The girls want to show off all the hard work they did this year. We invited the grandparents, an aunt, and of course Daddy. We're going to serve refreshments.

(Shh. It's a great excuse to get help cleaning up the room for the end of the year!) Have a great weekend everyone!

  2. Congrats! So excited for you! (We have two weeks left, but I should just call it quits now because aren't doing much of anything anyway.)

And that open house idea is super! Maybe next year. Will you remind me? :)

  3. I very sadly did an open house for Kaitlin when she was ONE. YES, I did. I have pictures to prove it-- I shall commence posting them soon! And yet havent really done one since! I really should though! I guess I do the weekly wrap ups and (TRY) to have pictures so the grandparents kindof know what they are doing? maybe that is good enough!

Of course who needs an excuse to have cake? :)

So what did you do today-- besides clean?

  4. Didn't clean much...just swept the homeschool room floor. Dad took us to IHOP to celebrate school being out. Had sewing class. Went to Walgreens to pick up diabetes medication. Swam. Super exciting first day of summer. Ha!

  5. An open house--what a great idea! We won't be finished (officially) until the 24th, but we have our books done, so this next week will be what my oldest calls "Fun Week."

I don't get to talk to a lot of actual grown-ups during the day, so your comments make me really happy! :)
