Do You Have Days Like This?

I don't watch Spongebob and neither do my kids. Not because I'm morally opposed or anything---I just think it's dumb. And gross.

BUT, one day I happened to catch this episode. And I thought I would die. I called my sister to tell her. THIS is how talking to your kids can be some days. She got it.

This is how school is going so far today:

Taking a break now!

  1. Oh, I can't stand SpongeBob either, but that video was dead on! Repetition makes me crazy, but some days it seems to be the only way the understand anything I say. :0)

And they conveniently "forget" things they've been told too...ugh! I feel your pain!

  2. "Exactly as I do. Exactly. Exactly. Exactly."

That could have been a quote from me at my house. Great video!!

    (Enjoy your break, Brenda!)

  3. Okay, I admit it. I kinda' like SpongeBob. But, DO NOT let your kids watch it as you drive in a mini-van with 8 people from Pa. to San Francisco. Someone will seriously loose their mind. (And, I can almost guarantee it will not be the kids.)

Your clip was right on. I'm not sure what they call the "I can't figure out what is right in front of my face" illness. But my children certainly have had a pretty heavy case with frequent relapses.

  4. Sister and I have taken to saying, "thelidthelidthelid!" when our kids are not understanding simple directions. Part of our vocabulary now!

  6. OH MY GOSH. That is my life. That is every single moment of my day. And better yet, my son's named Patrick (was NOT named after the starfish, though obviously, based on this clip, they are long-lost family).
"Honey, can you bring me the shoes from the couch? Couch. Shoes. Turn around - waitwaitwait, turn back, THERE. Couch. Bring Mommy shoes. Shoes. Couch. COUCH. RIGHT THERE. SHOES. ON COUCH. BRING- oh forget it."

I don't get to talk to a lot of actual grown-ups during the day, so your comments make me really happy! :)
