It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like CHAOS!

I love being home.

Now, having said that....

EVERYTHING IS A MESS! I feel like such a failure right now. I'm not whining. I promise. I'm just frustrated and I feel like there is not one area (home, kids, school, laundry, finances) where I am on top of things.

And the holidays are coming people!!!!! I feel like I just need to hole up here for a week and get things done, but we are always running. I don't even want to bring Christmas presents into this house until we get a reign on the stuff we already have.

OK---get a grip Brenda. What are your rocks?

1. School
2. Pay bills
3. Clean kitchen (floors, everything)
4. Grocery store
5. Those 4 are big enough. No 5 today.

What do you do when everything is tumbling down? Maybe I'll call my mommy today to come help. :)

  1. YES! Call Mommy! Or at least another Mommy to take the kiddos so you can get caught up. Then in a few weeks (or months, whatever) you can return the favor.

You need it. You will feel better.

And I would offer but it's too expensive to fly your kids here. :0)

  2. You may or may not already know about FlyLady.net, but your headline sure reminded me of her. CHAOS stands for Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome!!!

If you've got a mommy close by then, by all means, give her a call. Love Julie's idea about letting your mom take the kids (maybe even send a little "school" with them, as well), if possible, so you CAN get on top of at least ONE area. Also, don't forget to end the day recalling ALL of the things you DID do - and resting in their accomplishments, with gratitude.

  3. Breathe, Brenda. Breathe. Sit down and relax for just a second.

Okay, you better? Are you breathing? Good. Now. Start at the top of your list and work your way down. (Oh, and as for the kitchen? Do what you can. Just spot mop the floors. But you know me and mopping.)

And, I wish I were closer. I would *totally* have your girls over all day! I would do school, too! :)

    Praying for you today...

  4. YOu guys are so sweet. Yes, I have heard of Fly Lady---even fluttered around for a while. It kind of fell apart when we moved. BUT, today isn't such a good day to start THAT seeing as how my garbage disposal stopped working and my sink is full of yucky food that I threw in there before I realized it wasn't working. YUK! No shiny sink here. :)

OK--school is nearly done. The dishes are washed. Going to do laundry right now!

    Thanks for the encouragement!

  5. Praying for you!
That happens all too often around here... please remember that God looks at the heart (not the dirty dishes and floor) (:
Wish I could offer to help, I'd love to have someone to "trade off with" too. We're a bit too far away from everything here.
Have a wonderful day... sometimes all that is needed is a little creativity. How about dressing up while you all clean?? Like a Little House on the Prarie thing? Or trying to give the instructions in a different language? (We use German) (: Or, setting a timer?

  6. Yes! Call Mommy! If she is anything like me (an empty nest -- although I do have one son who comes home from college regularly), she would love to help, because, if she does not work outside the home, she doesn't have as much to do as she once did and would relish the chance to help. (I beg my sons to bring home their laundry -- the older one wouldn't when he was at our nearby college, but the younger one does, thank God -- makes me feel useful and like I am still a mom!)

  7. Did I write this post? Hmmm...not quite, because it's my bedroom that's a disaster, not my kitchen. But I can completely and wholeheartedly commiserate.

I was in the exact same place (emotionally) recently. I just started crying and told my husband I felt like I was doing a terrible job at everything. If I felt like I was on top of just ONE thing, it would have been fine, but it wasn't happening. I'd like to say that then I dove into my work and straightened things out, or prayed through it...but the truth is, the next day my husband headed out of town for a week and my daughter came down with a fever. Go figure. But somehow things are okay anyway. Take a deep breath, for this too shall pass :-).

  8. When all is spinning out of control, I usually sit down and blog or mindlessly read other blogs.

    I don't recommend it though. ;)

  9. Today I only made sure to put the girls' laundry away. Nevermind it took two hours because I just kept stuffing it in the trundle til it wouldn't close anymore. Lol. But I was able to look at the rest of the mess and leave it, making sure I was proud of what I'd done. I made myself be proud of myself for a job well-done.

I don't get to talk to a lot of actual grown-ups during the day, so your comments make me really happy! :)
