The Cure for Back Pain

I've been having terrible back pain. Sure, my back hurt sometimes with my other pregnancies (from what I can remember!) but nothing like this. The doctor said yesterday it's probably because the baby was laying "cattywampus" (Is that a Texas term?) and was probably on a nerve. It's not sciatica. I know that pain. My whole lower back just tenses up something awful. I've tried ice, heat, Tylenol, a warm bath and whining.

So last night when we got in bed, it hurt really badly. We had taken a longish ride in the truck yesterday evening and even though I had a pillow for support while riding, by the time we got home my back was acting up. I was laying in bed trying to get to sleep and thinking about crying. It really hurt.

And then, the children of Pleven came to mind. And I couldn't get them off of my mind.

Suddenly, I forgot all about my back hurting.

If you haven't followed this story, just read this one post. Just this one. The Lord is moving. Please pray.

It will make you forget your back pain or other troubles really quick.

  1. I had that with my 10lb transverse baby. The way to cure it is to birth the baby. :p

  4. A couple things that helped me with my pregancies were doing pelvic tilts every night before bed and at other times when my back was hurting and sitting on an exercise ball to watch tv/fold clothes etc...rather than laying back on the couch. The excercise ball became my favorite chair in the house! I also used it during labor and it helped immensely! Sitting down and/or reclining on soft surfaces during the last part of pregnancy (according to my midwife) can postition the baby poorly for birth. It helped me anyway and I had 3 of my 4 babies 100% natually!

    Hope that helps!

  5. p.s. If you don't have an exercise ball and would like one, you can have mine. I'd be happy to send it to you. I don't really use it anymore (Exercise? Ha! Does chasing my 3 year old and 1 year old count?) :)

  6. Oh Jenae you are so sweet! I was actually planning to get one anyway--hoping to labor at home a long time! You don't have to send me your but...what size did you have?

  7. Hmmm...I'm not totally sure what size. I picked it up at a garage sale a few years back so it wasn't in it's packaging and I don't think it says anywhere on it. You can inflate it to different sizes though. Mine was too was too large for me (I'm very petite) fully inflated so I probably had it about 3/4 full. I think the rule of thumb is to inflate it enough that when you sit down on it your thighs are perfectly level (someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I remember anyway).

  8. So so so so so sad and disturbing what is happening to those children. My heart is sick seeing this!! Praise the Lord for people who are willing to help, and making sure something is done. Praying for them today. Wow...I have never seen anything like that before...

  9. It is normal for an expecting mom to experience mild to severe back pains, especially during the labor month. It is also possible that even after giving birth, you'd still experience back pain every now and then. So, it is important that you do regular stretching and exercises. Make sure you use the right gear, by the way, to avoid injuring yourself.

I don't get to talk to a lot of actual grown-ups during the day, so your comments make me really happy! :)
