Insomnia

AAaaargh. It's 4:30 and I'm wide awake.

Again.

Why do I keep doing this? What could I possibly need to lay here and think about at this hour of the night?

The hermit crabs need water. Must remember to do that in the morning.

Oh yeah, the fish tank needs a new filter.

Did I take the ice bottles out of the bunny house tonight?

I need to do more laundry tomorrow.

I sure am glad S is home this weekend to help me.

I'm glad Sweetheart is feeling better too. I sure thought we were all gonna come down with flu too. Can't believe none of us have had any symptoms.

I should call the church hosting VBS to tell them she won't be there until Wednesday. (compose phone conversation in head---WHY?)

I am SO not ready to start school.

Well, actually I am ready for 4th grade but not Kindergarten. There is so much pressure to make her first days of Kindergarten wonderful and I haven't thought about it much yet.

I need to clean off the homeschool table.

You know, I've read this happens. Women can't relax because they are in their office basically all the time. It would be like asking your husband to sleep/relax amongst all this work at his job. You are constantly reminded of all you need to be doing.

I need to return that Netflix movie tomorrow, buy flip flops and drop them off at church for the ladies' thing....

See??? I'm doing it again.

I'm hungry.

I don't need to eat. I need to go back to sleep.

Everyone else is asleep. Why have I been doing this for weeks?

I gotta get a snack. Maybe cereal? It'll be so loud--I don't want to wake anybody up.

I'll find something.

Then maybe I'll be tired.

  1. Sorry you haven't been sleeping well. This has been going on for WEEKS?? Maybe you need to see the doc, or pray with the hubby before bed. Maybe that will help.

Are you feeling anxious along with the sleeplessness? Or just can't sleep? I've been there before too...keep your chin up. God knows...

  2. I feel really bad for you. I am plagued with this problem. The last four night I have gotten good sleep though. The baby has still gotten me up and my 7 year old for some reason has woken me up nightly because he can't sleep but compared to laying awake wanting to sleep it has been great and I can really tell it the next day.I would pray, pray, pray!Oh,and lay off the carbs it has worked so far for me.

  3. Oh Brenda! There is so much to think about as a stay-at-home-homeschool momma, isn't there?

But, I'm with the others.... Pray! (Which I am sure you are doing...) And, just think, I will be right there too in a few short weeks keeping you company. Except I hope you will be sleeping by then.... :)

    Blessings to you, friend!

  4. There is a wonderful vitamin called Melatonin that aids sleep. And L-Theanine can help you to relax. One of each before bed may not be a bad idea!

  5. I do this, too. I was speaking to a friend of mine and she made the comment that she had lain awake and relived the birth of her children, conversations she had and needed to have, etc. Up until that moment I thought for sure that I was the only one to ever do this. I have bee having severe insomnia lately. It is so hard when everyone else is asleep...

  6. You know, I can't believe I chose to post in the middle of the night. I should have read back over that after some sleep. It's not too bad.

I fall asleep just fine but wake up around 4:30-5:00 and stay awake for at least an hour. Then I usually manage to fall back asleep for 30 minutes to an hour. It's starting to add up, that's all. My brain is turning on when it shouldn't be!!!!!!

  7. I was up all night too! What is it? My friend across the street from us was up all night too! I do have to say though, I rarely can't sleep. Last night was the first time in a very long time that I've had insomnia. I know your gonna hate to hear it, but one thing that ALWAYS helps me to fall asleep and stay asleep is to exercise during the day at around 4p.m. And not like some little exercise, I've been doing that Jillian on Demand Shred video and that thing kicks my butt! I sleep like I'm in a NyQuil coma!

  8. i have similar problems...except i cannot fall asleep until around midnight, then wake up when the hubby gets up for work at 4:45. then it is fitful sleep til the kids get up...have you tried writing down what is stirring around in your head at that time? if you did a list at night when you went to bed of what needed to happen in the morning do you think you could sleep without your brain turning "on?" just a thought. here's praying for a full solid night of sleep tonight and many nights to come :)

  9. I have been there, many times! I started reciting "Jesus" in my head and picturing his face in my mind. Seems to bring peace to all of my many thoughts!

I don't get to talk to a lot of actual grown-ups during the day, so your comments make me really happy! :)
