Well, as I'm typing this the girls are having a sleepover in the younger one's room. They planned it, packed, etc. They really get along SO well. I know they'll have fun this summer, but I still like to do something "planned" with them!

My kids all love art. Have you thought of a tea party? My girls are twins 13, a 12 year old and a 10 year old and they still love it. Pick some easy recipes like scones and whipped cream. They can even make the whipped cream from heavy whipping cream. I'm sure there are lots of ideas for dishes on the net and it doesn't have to cost a lot. Let them dress up and decorate the table and invite a few friends. Fun stuff.

we, too, were so excited to see the summer reader suggestions from sonlight. nator has really enjoyed them... i've got to work on lil' miss gracie. :-/ nator is becoming quite versed in authors, too! so exciting, yes? :)

When I was Sweetheart's age, my favorite books were the "Mandie book" series. They are a Christian mystery series for girls ages 9-13 written by Lois Gladys Leppard. I loved them so much that I kept them to give to my little girl when she's old enough for them. Maybe your library carries them.

Thanks for the tip about Sonlight's summer reading packages. I will have to look at their recommendations for our summer reading. Also, you might check out the 1000 Good Books list from Classical Christian Education (http://www.classical-homeschooling.org/celoop/1000.html)

I'm not sure what "level" it is, but has she read the Anne of Green Gables books? Those, along with Nancy Drew (the original ones) were some of my favorites in late childhood.

Well I am thankful for the outcome-- I'll have to share my birthing story sometime! Lets just start with pitocin started 5 days in a row.... Bad birth stories do suck But they are what they are A StORY and it's the ending that counts right!
